Things don't always work out the way I plan them. Take for example my grand idea to do a Christmas CD this year. I love Christmas time as I get to spend it with my whole family every year. So of course I wanted to make the music for occasion. That was my idea anyway...
A producer I was working with had first pitched the Christmas album last year. He was working with another singer and he'd wanted to do a Christmas album. I thought I'd convinced him to change his mind and roll with me on the project, but this producer is kind of known for being a bit flakey (hence me not mentioning his name;). I should have considered that when he said we'd do it. Well, I got started picking the songs I liked and going over the songs he said he'd liked. But by summer we still hadn't done anything toward recording and he'd stopped acknowledging that we'd agreed to do the album. So I decided to do it on my own! But eventually realized that that would have meant that I would have to drop a lot of things I had on the go (including writing for my next EP 'Phoenix Rising'). It just wasn't feasible. Which sucked, 'cause I was so stoked to do the album. Christmas has always been a special time for me that I luckily to spend with my whole family. So it was with heavy heart that I had to ditch the Christmas album idea (for now!). But that got me thinking. If I couldn't do a whole album why not do a new version of some old classics. Hence 'JINGLE BELLS ROCK!'.
